COB RMI program produces another first

Congratulations to COB’s Allison Leigh Pigora, a rising senior in the College’s Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program.  She is the first RMI student ever selected for the Student Engagement Program of the 2019 Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) society.

As a result of this honor, Allison will get to participate in the CPCU annual meeting in New Orleans, which is attended by thousands of RMI industry professionals.

“I will be very proud to have Allison represent ECU as part of this prestigious program,” says Dr. Brenda Wells, director of the RMI program.  “She is a very dynamic and impressive student who will learn a great deal at this conference.  I look forward to traveling with her to New Orleans!”

According to Kurt Fickling, instructor in COB’s RMI program, competition for the CPCU Student Engagement Program is offered to all RMI students throughout the United States and Canada, and very few are selected.

“Allison is an outstanding person, dedicated to this industry, shows excellent leadership and social skills, and all her classmates look up to her for all she has accomplished,” added Fickling.

To further her knowledge of the industry, Pigora was chosen out of a pool of nation-wide RMI college students to participate in the summer internship program of the Risk Management Department of SAS Institute, a developer of analytics software.

Pigora also is a member and officer in the ECU Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, in which she has participated in many activities.  She also was selected as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the National College of Business Honor Fraternity.
