deChabert-Rios joins STEM project

Jacqueline deChabert-Rios, a teaching assistant professor, with the College’s School of Hospitality Leadership, is now affiliated with ECU’s STEM Collaborative for Research in Education (CoRE) for the Academic year 2019-2020.

The mission of the STEM CoRE is to conduct grant-funded research, interventions, education/training, community-engagement, and entrepreneurial projects that 1) increase the number and quality of STEM teachers and STEM majors and 2) improve STEM teaching and learning at ECU across disciplinary and organizational boundaries. The benefits of affiliating with theSTEM CoRE include opportunities to establish STEM education-related
collaborations, participate in support programs (Grant Advisory Panels, Community Advisory Panels, and Pilot Project Funding), and access to technical, grants administration, and community engagement support. A major goal of the STEM CoRE is to facilitate the growth of external research, education and training, and community engagement funding through individual and collaborative grants.

Affiliate Members are expected to actively participate in research, community,
and/or education/training activities of the STEM CoRE, attend/participate in the
STEM CoRE Seminar Series (as needed), attend/participate in an annual Affiliate
Members meeting if available, and on occasion serve on search committees, grant-review panels, or mentoring teams if available.
