Miller School faculty and its New Orleans presence

Dr. Mike Harris, Dr. Sharon Paynter, Dr. Dennis Barber and Tristyn Daughtry

In January 2020, Drs. Michael Harris and Dennis Barber III attended the annual conference for the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), the premier organization for entrepreneurship education.

The Miller School of Entrepreneurship was a title sponsor and what great timing. It was the largest conference on record with nearly 750 registrants, and Barber was able to offer an address about the Miller School at a plenary session. Apart from winning a major award for the Miller School’s co-curricular innovation, Harris and Barber spoke at other sessions focused around rural entrepreneurship and economic development.

While at the conference, Barber and Harris also launched a Rural Entrepreneurship Special Interest Group, which Barber will chair.

“The initial interest meeting was well attended, and the momentum is increasing,” said Barber.
