In turn with Kunal Chakraborty
In turn is a series dedicated to highlighting the interns and internship opportunities that can be found within the College of Business (COB).
Kunal Chakraborty
Kunal Chakraborty is a junior accounting major in the College of Business (COB). He was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and recently completed an internship at UNX industries, a Greenville-based company that provides innovative cleaning solutions for the laundry industry.
Typically, Kunal would have the first quote in this type of story. However, we thought we’d share a quote from Ryan Cotroneo, UNX’s chief technology officer. Cotroneo was so impressed with what Chakraborty brought to UNX, he dropped us a note on LinkedIn.
“Kunal’s discipline and enthusiasm for accounting best practices have made the internship very beneficial for our laboratories,” said Cotroneo. “He is constantly pitching new ideas, which has meshed perfectly with the culture of creativity we are trying to grow here at UNX.”

“Along with my mother being an accountant, I have wanted to pursue a career in accounting since high school,” said Chakraborty. “I hope to earn my bachelor’s then get my master’s to become a CPA and work for an accounting firm finally.”
How was your experience at UNX?
UNX has given me the opportunity to learn more about the type of work an accountant will have to perform at a manufacturing level. I also got the chance to work with other departments to produce specific information on various processes.
How did you learn about this internship opportunity?
I learned about this internship opportunity through a friend who previously was employed by UNX Industries.
How did the COB prepare you to be the chosen candidate?
I learned a lot about the importance of communication and work ethic and how that plays a role in how I can do better as a student and intern.
Describe your experience at the COB
The COB has helped me in many ways, even though I got this internship without the COB. I have had the experience of meeting new employers.
Why would you recommend a business student take advantage of an internship opportunity?
I would recommend any business student to take advantage of any internships because it allows them to get a taste of what they will be doing and to gain experience in the work environment. It is also an opportunity to learn about how a company works and pick up skills that one can use later in their career.
