The pursuit of leadership in organizations

Meghan Ashley Lower is from Greenville, North Carolina. She’s currently a graduate assistant at ECU’s Honors College and Office of University Scholarships. She graduated from ECU with a double major in education and chemistry.

Lower is currently enrolled in the College of Business and pursuing her MBA degree. With that pursuit, she also is part of the inaugural class of COB’s Leadership in Organization certificate.

“I knew I wanted to continue my education through a graduate degree,” said Lower. “The College of Business is providing (me) a degree that not only allows me to increase my knowledge level but also sets me up for a wider array of career opportunities.”

On why pursuing the Leadership in Organizations certificate, Lower said, “I chose…this certificate as it would allow me to focus on subject matter that…interests me. The certificate gives me great potential for workplace application after graduation.”

Lower tells us the certificate has expanded her horizons regarding leadership, negotiation, motivation and power. “(It) has provided me with a toolkit of knowledge and skills that will be applicable in any career as the importance of relationships and critical decision-making amongst others are universal.”

Lower plans to finish her MBA in 2021.
