NGO's award winning paper to be published

Thanh Ngo on the campus of ECUCollege of Business finance professor Dr. Thanh Ngo is a publishing machine. During fiscal year 21-22, she published nine papers with a common theme of corporate governance on a firm’s transparency and long-run performance.

“Corporate transparency benefits a firm and its stakeholders in various ways, providing visible evidence that firm transparency promotes efficient markets, attracts investors’ capital, reduces agency problem and corporate misconduct, improves investment efficiency and firm performance, and consequently increases the welfare of the whole society,” said Ngo.

One of those papers, “Assortative Matching in Merging Firms’ Stock Price Informativeness,” was awarded the best corporate finance paper during the 2021 Academy of Finance meeting. The paper is set to be published in September 2022 in the journal Applied Economics.

The paper was co-authored with Dr. Wenjing Ouyang from University of the Pacific and Dr. Samuel Szewczyk from Drexel University.
