SHL alumna establishes Confection Convention

The School of Hospitality Leadership recently participated in the Confection Convention held in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Confection Convention’s mission is to bring confectioners from Fayetteville, NC and surrounding areas to promote networking and business opportunities for both small and established businesses. The event was founded by Ebony Johnson, a graduate of the School of Hospitality Leadership.

Ebony is the owner of SOUL Sweet. Her love for baking and passion for service brought her to Charleston, SC—the hospitality epicenter of the South—where she has expanded both her baking skills and network of food and beverage professionals. The Confection Convention was created to satisfy two needs: the need for a fun and immersive event made up of unparalleled pastries and the need for vendors and patrons to appreciate the wonderful contributions that dessert culinarians offer to the world of hospitality. Holding the convention in Fayetteville, NC brings Ebony’s story full circle; it’s where her hospitality career began with her first business, Ebby-Cakes, and now she’s a trailblazer in the hospitality industry.

The School of Hospitality Leadership displayed its booth and distributed information to other vendors and attendees. Michael Fazzini, an instructor and the kitchen lab coordinator for SHL, represented the program.
