Beta Gamma Sigma welcomes 78 inductees during spring '23 ceremonies
The spring 2023 James H. Bearden Induction Ceremony of the ECU Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) – Gamma BGS – was on April 18, 2023, in Harvey Hall on the campus of East Carolina University.
The College of Business inducted 78 new members into BGS, the honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The BGS tapping ceremonies – the presentation of BGS invitations during class time – took place earlier during the spring semester.
Beta Gamma Sigma membership is the highest recognition a business student can achieve. Two times each year, the College of Business inducts eligible students and faculty into Beta Gamma Sigma. Membership is by invitation only and is based upon eligibility criteria, including those who rank in the top 10% of the second semester of sophomore, junior, and senior year or the top 20% of graduating graduate students within the College of Business. Before nomination, the College of Business faculty reviews each candidate to ensure they meet the standards of character and integrity that membership represents.
Azita Movahed, Gamma BGS president, Dr. Michael Harris, interim dean of COB, and Jordan Anderson, Gamma BGS student vice president, helped induct and welcome the students to the honor society. Dr. Mauro Falasca, Gamma BGS secretary, and Chip Galusha, Gamma BGS treasurer, also participated in the ceremony.
