SHL Alumna Spotlight - Faith Dickson

Born and raised in Holly Springs, NC (right outside of Raleigh), I watched the city grow throughout my visits to the “big city”. I have always enjoyed the hustle and bustle of any city. At 17, I started working in hospitality. I started out as a venue manager of a local wedding venue, I soon found myself writing for wedding magazines, working in bridal shops, and even interning at Pinehurst Resort.

After touring ECU and learning about the School of Hospitality Leadership, I knew it was the place for me. I learned so much in the classroom, but also during my internships and career fairs. SHL provided me with the proper tools to excel in the world of hospitality, from networking to marketing and even my ServeSafe certification!

I now work for York Properties as the venue supervisor of Raleigh Union Station, a working train station and an event venue in the heart of downtown Raleigh. I have the privilege of watching couples start their lives together, companies celebrate their success, and even helping 1,000+ people ring in the New Year!

I adore this job!

In the future, I would love to expand the events we host and continue to make more connections. Thank you to the professors at ECU for their support and advice during my four years at ECU!
