Thanks to a new grant, The Mid-East Commission of the Rivers East Workforce Development Board will turn to the Crisp Small Business Resource Center to bolster its employment solutions designed to train people who were formerly incarcerated.

The Crisp Center will coordinate the development and delivery of an entrepreneurial mindset and small business planning curriculum that can integrate into existing training offered by Local Reentry Councils within the Mid-East Commission’s service area of Beaufort, Bertie, Hartford, Martin, and Pitt Counties.

Additionally, the Crisp Center will work with our grant partners to identify Local Reentry Council leadership within Mid-East Commission’s service area to receive Icehouse Facilitator Training (a program focused on helping individuals develop their entrepreneurial mindset) to build capacity for these leaders to continue integrating this curriculum into their Local Reentry Council courses past the life of this grant.

Local reentry councils support justice-involved individuals and provide services that include assistance with housing, employment, transportation, substance abuse, obtaining personal documentation, and other basic needs.
