Supply chain students attend ISM2024

Supply chain students and faculty at ISM 2024 in Las Vegas.

The ECU student chapter of the Institute for Supply Management attended the ISM2024 Annual Conference at the MGM Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, April 28 – May 1, 2024.

Four students (Madison Nay, Claire Hefner, Rodney Bonilla, & Reece Harvey) represented the chapter due to their participation as officers of the student ISM Chapter during the 2023-2024 academic year.  The students worked shifts during the conference assisting conference attendees with program information, conference navigation (the MGM is very expansive), & attending young professional workshops.

The trip was made possible through the McMahon Endowed Professorship, currently held by Dr. John F. Kros of the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management in the College of Business. The students were accompanied by Dr. Kros & Dr. Mauro Falasca who serve as assistant faculty advisors for the group.

More than 2500 conference attendees gathered at the event.  The keynote speaker was José Andrés, renowned chef and founder of World Central Kitchen.  He emphasized the parallels between managing supply chain bottlenecks in emergencies and his humanitarian work. He highlighted the importance of effective data flow and teamwork in overcoming challenges, drawing on his experience providing millions of meals globally

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) is the first and largest not-for-profit professional supply management organization worldwide. Founded in 1915, ISM has over 50,000 members located in 100 countries.
