Kirchoff and Kros participate in IDB's LOGTECH program

In January of 2024, East Carolina University (ECU) and the Institute for Defense and Business (IDB) forged a powerful partnership to support the delivery of specialized education for some of the nation’s top decision-makers, encompassing military, government and industry leaders.
These educational experiences feature Logistics, Sustainment, and Technology (LOGTECH) Executive and Advanced level programs offered in partnership with ECU’s Office of Continuing & Professional Education, with guidance from ECU’s Office of National Security & Industry Initiatives.
During a recent IDB LOGTECH Advanced Program delivered in Durham, North Carolina, Drs. Jon Kirchoff and John Kros from ECU’s College of Business supply chain department presented a session on risk and resilience issues in global supply chain and logistics.
Their presentations provided the learners with strategies for developing best-case scenarios for managing global supply chain risks and building resilience, linking industry practices to military examples.

LtGen William “Mark” Faulkner, USMC (Ret) and IDB president, stated, “The partnership between the Institute for Defense and Business and East Carolina University has the extraordinary potential to cultivate the next generation of visionary leaders, driving innovation and excellence in both the Public and Private Sectors.”
The week-long July 21 – 26 event was just one of many programs, with diverse learning objectives for leaders at all levels, offered by the IDB designed to tackle the complex challenges facing modern military operations, Department of Defense opportunities, and industry hurdles.
What’s Next?
ECU’s Office of Continuing & Professional Education will collaborate closely with IDB leaders to create new educational programs, events, and opportunities, expanding the partnership to meet evolving industry, defense, and professional needs.
Kirchoff and Kros are scheduled to present on the same topic during the upcoming September LOGTECH Program, reinforcing the ongoing commitment of ECU and IDB to address critical issues in global supply chain and logistics.
