Katie Butler is an assistant director in the COB’s Advising Center. While she’s helping thousands of undergraduate students be successful, she finds time to focus on her community being successful, as well.

She recently served as the president of the Junior League of Greenville, a non-profit organization of women committed to advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. “This organization means a great deal to me because it’s an opportunity to give back to the community I have loved since first arriving in 2008 as a student at ECU,” said Butler. “I also get to be a part of a movement to equip the women in our community with leadership skills and support to make a further impact in their part of the community.”

Making an Impact

When asked about her most impactful memory while serving on the board, she said, “So much more goes into making decisions than I thought from a board level. For ten women to walk into a room bringing in different perspectives/experiences, sit at the same table and work towards a common goal of sustaining an organization, that experience was impactful to me. There were times when not everyone agreed with a decision, but when we left the table, we were still united in our effort to make the biggest impact on Greenville.”
