Newell leads workshop on the impact of representation for NC State AMA

Dana Newell, MS, MBA, a vice president with the American Marketing Association (AMA) Triangle Chapter and teaching instructor in the College of Business, recently spoke with over 50 students at NC State University’s AMA Student Chapter.

In a dynamic workshop, Newell discussed why representation matters in education, the workplace, and leadership—highlighting how it builds belonging, strengthens critical thinking, supports student success, and prepares future leaders.

“Representation isn’t just about being seen—it’s about being valued,” Newell shared.

Reflecting on the experience, she added,

“Whenever I get the chance to talk with college students about representation, I learn so much from them. What a wonderful time I had with the NC State AMA and my home chapter, AMA Triangle. The future is looking really bright!”

The College of Business is proud to support events that inspire meaningful dialogue and prepare students to lead confidently.
