East Carolina University’s Collegiate DECA chapter claims international titles

East Carolina University’s Collegiate DECA chapter made a bold statement on the global stage this April, returning home as international champions following a standout performance at the 2025 Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference in San Francisco, California.
Fifty student members represented ECU with professionalism and Pirate pride as they competed against top-performing peers from across the globe. Their efforts earned more than 20 medals, 13 finalist recognitions and three international placements—including first-, second- and second-place finishes—marking one of ECU DECA’s most successful showings to date.
ECU students earned top placements in multiple competitive events:
- First place internationally: Quincy McKay
- Second place internationally: Rodney Bonilla and Matthew Kornegay
- Additional honors: 13 students recognized as top performers or finalists
“We are officially INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONS,” the chapter shared on Instagram. “We’re returning to ECU with our heads high, arms full of medals, DECA glasses and memories that will last a lifetime.”
The chapter also praised its executive board, writing: “Thank you for making this experience possible. Your leadership, organization and drive made this all happen. Hard work truly pays off.”
Collegiate DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. ECU’s chapter continues to build a legacy of excellence through competition, collaboration and real-world application.
