AACSB confirms College of Business accreditation

East Carolina University’s College of Business has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Dean Mike Harris received confirmation of the accreditation extension on May 6.
“We are extremely proud to renew our AACSB accreditation, which we have had continuously since 1967,” Harris said. “This is the gold standard in our field and a testament to the outstanding work of our faculty, staff and students. Throughout the process we demonstrated our commitment to the strategic priorities of student success, public service and regional transformation. I want thank our peer review team, led by Dean Chris Shook of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, for its support and focus on continuous improvement.”
Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. For more than a century, AACSB accreditation has been synonymous with the highest standards in business education and has been earned by only 5% of the world’s schools offering business degrees at the bachelor’s level or higher. Today, 874 institutions across 56 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation, while 190 institutions hold supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.
A business program must undergo a rigorous review every six years to maintain accreditation. The program must demonstrate its continued commitment to standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students, commitment to continuous improvement, and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.
