RISEUp Academy

RISEUp Academy offers students from across campus course credit in entrepreneurship, an entrepreneurial mindset certification, and the opportunity to become a RISE29 intern. The curricular portion of the program will take place in the spring semester and will be conducted in a virtual but synchronous environment. Students will have to meet with Dr. Barber once a week and engage with their classmates to help them continue developing, creating, and building their businesses. There will be a strong peer-to-peer component. Students will also learn more about the opportunities to locate a business in eastern North Carolina. Students will work to find a mentor and potentially identify a community that will fit with their business. By the end of the semester, if participants haven’t already, they will launch their businesses. Legal support will be provided through our partnership with the Duke Law School’s Startup Ventures Clinic.
