ECU Pirate Sales Club takes top honors at inaugural National Tech-Sales Competition

East Carolina University’s Pirate Sales Club made a standout impression at the inaugural National Tech-Sales Competition hosted by Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), bringing home a wave of individual and team honors — including first place in overall school placement.

Hosted by the MTSU Center for Professional Selling, the event paired sales students with tech students in a unique role-play format designed to foster real-world collaboration. Over four rounds — including a scored networking session and three immersive role-plays — students from 12 universities showcased their communication, adaptability and strategic thinking.

Leading the charge for ECU was Parker Raven, who earned:

  • First place in the team role-play competition
  • Third place in networking

Roz Burgess delivered a stellar performance with:

  • First place in networking

Diya Thaker received:

  • First place in the team role-play competition

Josiah Ortiz helped the team earn the ECU Teamwork Award with perfect marks.

Together, their efforts secured ECU and the Twilley Sales Academy the Top University Award, recognizing overall excellence and collaboration.

Dr. Michael Rodriguez, faculty advisor, and student coach Isaiah Brooks played key roles in preparing the team for success.

Organizers praised ECU’s delegation for their professionalism and performance. Sponsored by companies including Oracle, United Rentals and Enterprise Mobility, the competition was held at MTSU’s Jennings A. Jones College of Business.
