“Something that is so special about the College of Business is the amount of success each professor wants you to achieve. They want you to learn and take away as much as possible.”

Madison Parsons, MSCM ’16 Hometown: Charlotte, NC Current Job: Internship at Kunkleman and Lucente, LLC Class Year: Senior

Madison Parsons, has proven herself to be a successful leader during her time at ECU. She currently serves as president of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, which she says is like running a small business with seven vice presidents who report to her along with other committee chairs, plus she also handles the group’s finances. She also has served on the ECU Homecoming Committee for two years, participated in ECU’s Leadership Odyssey program, and completed three business-related summer internships. During her sophomore year, she landed an internship with Microsoft Windows. Last year, she interned with Suddenlink as a marketing intern and served as a student blogger with the ECU College of Business.

Parsons recently earned the William F. West Memorial Scholarship for her outstanding academic achievement and involvement, and as a junior she was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society that is the highest recognition a business student can receive. “I was honored to get tapped into BGS by my sorority faculty advisor, Dr. Schneider,” she said. “Dr. Schneider has been involved in my college career since freshman year, and he has offered great advice and knowledge. To be tapped into BGS by him was such an honor, knowing my hard work has paid off.”

She says initially, she thought business might be more of a “man’s world,” and she was a little apprehensive to jump in. Now she knows it was the right fit for her, and credits the College of Business with giving her the confidence and knowledge to step into leadership roles.

“Being in business has opened so many opportunities for me already, and my career is ust getting started,” she said.
