Student Spotlight: Ashley Kiel
Senior Accounting student, Ashley Kiel, shares what led her to a full-time position with Hughes Pittman & Gupton accounting firm.
What led to your decision to take a position with HPG?
Once I had the first interview, I quickly realized how positive and supportive the environment and culture was. During my office visit, I had the chance to meet multiple partners and talk to many senior and entry level associates. I really enjoyed their energy and what they had to say about their experiences at HPG. After learning about some partners’ journeys and hearing about their views on the company, I aspired to be a part of their team.
What experiences do you think made you stand out to the company?
Ultimately, I think once I was in the interview, I was able to convey my strong work ethic. I put all my hard work and dedication into every task I am given to show the passion and determination I have for successful outcomes.
Describe your experience at the College of Business.
I had a great experience during my time in the College of Business and would not have been where I am today without the advisors and professors. And I am extremely thankful to the accounting staff in the College of Business. Throughout my college life, I not only gained an abundance of knowledge but also gained many personal connections that I will continue to value in the future.
How did the College of Business prepare you for this successful opportunity?
The College of Business was extremely helpful throughout my journey. The countless job opportunities that were offered, the valuable staff and advisors available, and the College of Business Career Center are just some of the things that helped to prepare me for a professional future.
What would be the one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I have been playing fantasy football with my family and friends for over five years and am extremely passionate about it. I have always enjoyed watching and playing all kinds of sports, but my favorite has always been football. Growing up with two older brothers, I quickly learned to be one of the players instead of one of the cheerleaders!
