In turn with Caitlynn Harpine

This week’s intern of the week is Caitlynn Harpine, a risk management and insurance major slated to graduate this upcoming December. She is interning with First State Insurance Advisors.

For her role, which was through an introduction by RMI’s teaching instructor Kurt Fickling, Harpine quotes new and existing clients, inputs client data and creates certificates of insurance.

To help prepare her for the internship, Harpine leaned on the COB’s BUSI classes when it came to writing appropriate emails and her interview.

“The hardest thing for me was interviewing and making sure I was confident,” said Harpine. “COB helped with looking over my resume and giving me pointers.”

Once in her role, Harpine took advantage of what she learned in her RMI classes. She says, “I came into this internship knowing more than I thought I would know.”

How has the internship taught Harpine about responsibility?

“It taught me how to balance school and work, as well as a social life,” she said.
“It helped me with time management.”

And, asked if she would recommend students take advantage of the Cunanan Center for Professional Success, Harpine says she would.

“They offer numerous ways to help, and it is always a good idea to take advantage of those things and prepare.”
