SHL alumni spotlight: Brian Hatter

I graduated from East Carolina University and the School of Hospitality Leadership‘s hospitality management program in 2023 with a minor in business administration. Right after graduation, I joined Parks Hospitality Group as a manager in training. During this time, I learned the ins and outs of hotel management, including housekeeping management, front desk operations, and food and beverage services. Once I completed the manager in training program, I transitioned into an operations manager role.

In my current role, I am responsible for traveling between hotels to provide additional management support as required while also contributing to the successful launch of new properties within our expanding portfolio. Parks Hospitality Group currently owns and operates 12 Hilton hotels across three states, and being part of this dynamic team has been an incredible experience.

Looking back, I can’t overstate how much SHL has contributed to my success. The program helped me refine my communication skills and provided me with lifelong connections in the industry. I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and education I received from SHL.

In my free time, I enjoy scuba diving, playing golf, going hiking/camping, exploring local breweries, and supporting ECU Athletics. I’m a proud season ticket holder for both football and baseball, and I always find excitement in cheering on the Pirates.

As I continue to grow in my career, I remain grateful for my ECU experience and look forward to what the future holds.
