Supply chain students attend supply chain conference

COB students and faculty at the STAFDA conference.

Five College of Business Supply Chain majors attended the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) 2024 Annual Conference in Nashville, TN, Nov. 9-12.  The attendees were all supply chain management majors in the College of Business: Evan Lambert, Jaxon Rose, Rodney Bonilla, Reece Harvey, & Kyle Hadley.

More than 3,000 conference attendees gathered at the event.  The students competed in the Supply Chain Challenge finishing in the top ten.  Students also participated in speed interviews with multiple companies such as Diablo Tools, Diamond Products, DCI Global, & Drill American, and others. In addition, the students were hosted for a Next-Generation luncheon where they were able to interact with a panel of industry executives/owners.

Evan Lambert and Jaxson agreed that they both enjoyed “…the lunch panel gave us the opportunity to ask questions. Overall, my time at STAFDA was great, and I made use of the networking opportunity!”

Rodney’s favorite part “…was the multiple different panels I attended. The panelist gave great advice and helped me recognize all the opportunities I will have as a young professional trying to break into the industry.”

Reece stated, “The experience not only provided a hands-on look at the industry but also fostered connections that could shape students’ futures in the trade. Overall, the conference was an eye-opening and inspiring experience for all who attended.”

Evan, Reece, Rodney, Kyle, & Jaxon all agreed that they had an amazing opportunity to represent East Carolina University at the conference. They all gave a special thank you to Georgia Foley for inviting us and Inchainge for sponsoring the student supply chain competition.

The trip was made possible through the Vincent K. McMahon Endowed Professorship, currently held by Dr. John F. Kros of the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management in the COB.  The students were accompanied by Dr. Jon Kros & Dr. Mauro Falasca, who serves as the Student ISCM Chapter advisor.
