Dr. Yeliz Eseryel is an associate professor in the Department of Management Information Systems at East Carolina University. She received her Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology, M.B.A. (Specialization in Global Entrepreneurship), and M.S. in Information Management from Syracuse University. Her research includes open innovation enablement through information systems, and virtual and IT-Enabled Leadership. Her other research streams include cybersecurity and IT pedagogy based on her own creative teaching innovations.

Dr. Eseryel is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Leadership and Management. Her industry background includes business and strategy consulting and IT project management. She has taught internationally at the corporate, executive, master’s, and undergraduate levels since 2004. She received the 2024 Board of Governors Distinguished Professor for Teaching award for her teaching, and AIS Distinguished Member Cum Laude honor for her research impact and leadership in serving her academic community.

Dr. Eseryel is the Co-Mentor of two student groups on Campus: AIS ECU Student Chapter, and Delta Sigma Pi. She is also a mentor at the College of Business Assistant Professor Mentorship Program.
