Committee Descriptions

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee focuses on strengthening the YAC community through member engagement, recruitment, and retention. This team leads our digital presence by sharing updates, spotlighting alumni, and promoting YAC events across platforms. Members also help create and distribute newsletters and develop strategies to keep fellow members connected and involved. If you have a background in marketing, communications, or social media, or simply enjoy building community, this is the place for you.

Professional Success Committee

The Professional Success Committee connects students and young alumni with career development resources and networking opportunities. This team works to bridge the gap between ECU and industries beyond Eastern North Carolina by helping students explore career paths and connect with professionals across the country. Committee members collaborate closely with Lee Brown, Melissa Parks, and Lauren Pender to bring employers and students together through virtual sessions, company visits, and more. If you are passionate about mentoring and opening doors for future Pirates, this is the committee for you.

Event Planning Committee

The Event Planning Committee brings together alumni, faculty, and students through purposeful, fun, and memorable events. From professional networking opportunities to social gatherings in Greenville and other cities, this team helps keep YAC active and connected. They plan and execute core annual events, large fundraisers, and industry-focused conferences. If you enjoy organizing events, creating excitement, and bringing people together, you will thrive here.

Student Organization Success Committee

The Student Organization Success Committee partners with student-run organizations in the College of Business to provide mentorship and support. Each member is paired with one or two student orgs and serves as an Alumni Advisor, helping student leaders grow and succeed. You do not need previous advising experience, just a willingness to support and guide. If you were involved in student orgs yourself, you know how meaningful alumni input can be.

Distinguished Young Alumni Committee

The Distinguished Young Alumni Committee leads efforts to recognize excellence across the YAC and ECU community. The team is creating a fair and thoughtful process to honor young professionals, local leaders, and students. One of the group’s key projects is the YAC scholarship, launching in 2026. If you enjoy celebrating achievements and helping develop recognition programs, this committee is a great fit.
