Christopher Furner is a Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems in the College of Business at East Carolina University. He received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Florida State University in 2008.

His research interests include issues related to consumer behavior in e-commerce, virtual work, and mobile computing, such as location-based privacy, application stickiness and adoption. His research has appeared in a number of journals, including Information Systems Journal, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction, Computers in Human Behavior, Journal of Internet Commerce, Electronic Markets, The Marketing Review, Journal of Consumer Marketing, International Journal of Information Systems and Social Change and the Journal of Information Technology Management, among others. As of 2025, he has authored 41 peer reviewed journal articles.

He has taught a wide variety of courses during his career, including graduate Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, Delivering Business Value through Information Systems, and Project Management, as well as undergraduate programming (advanced and introductory), Systems Analysis & Design, Web Application Development, and Electronic Commerce among others.

He developed a graduate certificate program in Business Analytics, and has served the university in a variety of roles, including as Vice Chair of the Graduate Council.
