Debra Schisler is a Senior Teaching Instructor in the Department of Accounting. Her primary teaching focus is Financial Accounting. Her service activities involve the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC, where she serves on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee, and the Sea Gate Women’s Club, where she serves as Treasurer. She earned her Master of Accountancy from Auburn University in December 1989.  She then began her accounting career in 1990 as an auditor with Deloitte and Touche in Memphis, TN, and became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 1991.  Upon moving to Greenville, NC in 1992, she worked for a local accounting firm before opening her own practice in 1999 providing bookkeeping and tax services for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations.  She left public accounting in 2006 to become a full-time teaching instructor for the Department of Accounting at East Carolina University (ECU). Debra also served on the board or as a consultant for the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC for over twelve years.
