All graduate applications must be submitted to the ECU Graduate School, the University-wide office that coordinates all graduate applications. You are responsible for the submission and receipt of all application materials. When your application is complete, the application packet is then sent to the College of Business Graduate Programs office for evaluation.

Applicants are admitted to the MBA and MSA programs only upon the issuance of a formal letter of admission by the Graduate School.

The Graduate School will destroy incomplete applications one year after the beginning date of the term of intended enrollment.

*GMAT/GRE Requirements

Applicants who have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 and a score of 550 or more on the GMAT qualify for admission. Applicants may submit a GRE score in-lieu of a GMAT score.  For a given GRE score, the Predicted GMAT Total Score will be used to determine a student’s eligibility for admission. Visit our entrance exam page for more information.

Conditional Admission

Applicants whose cumulative GPA is less than a 2.7 and/or score less than 550 on the GMAT will be considered for conditional admission based on the following formula: (200 X GPA) + GMAT ≥ 1000. The minimum GMAT score that will be considered is 500.

Entrance Exam Waiver

Applicants who are further along in their careers or who had a stellar undergraduate academic record can waive the entrance exam requirement for our two degrees. There are seven opportunities to qualify for an entrance exam waiver. A student need only request a waiver for ONE of the criteria.  A completed application with required supporting documents can be submitted prior to or after the admissions application for Graduate School is submitted. All requests for a waiver of our entrance exam requirement are subject to committee review.

English Proficiency

The Graduate School accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Duolingo English Test or Pearson Test of English (PTE) and scores must be forwarded to the Graduate School by the testing service.

The English proficiency requirement is waived for international students if the undergraduate degree is from a US college or university.

Find out more on the Graduate School’s page on required application materials.

Financial Support

Financial information along with certified evidence of financial resources to cover educational costs and living expenses must be submitted once an admission decision has been made. International students are responsible for meeting all financial obligations (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) incurred.

Financial Assistance

Students seeking financial assistance through graduate assistantshipsscholarships, or financial aid are strongly urged to apply early, as awards are based on demand and are dependent on available funding. Students must be fully admitted to be considered for assistantships, remissions, and/or scholarships.

The College of Business offers graduate assistantship (GA) positions that assist professors in research or course administration or provide support for various COB offices. Visit our Graduate Assistants page for more information and to apply. There are also other graduate assistant opportunities across the university; please contact respective departments for more information. All international students who receive a graduate assistantship should complete the Social Security Number request form: https://redcap.ecu.edu/surveys/?s=7NK8E4FPKJ This can only be done once the student is physically present in country.

The COB does not offer tuition waivers or fellowships.

Enrollment Requirements

All graduate students at ECU who are studying under an F1 visa are required to enroll at full-time status (9 graduate credits, or more) AND at least 6 of those credits must be face-to-face. If your last term is in the summer, you must be enrolled in face-to-face classes.
