Application Deadlines

Fall – February 1

Completed applications must be received by the ECU Graduate School no later than the date indicated for each semester. Since additional time is required for visa and other document processing, university deadlines are strictly enforced.

Application Requirements

A completed application includes:

1. online application form
2. application fee of $75
3. current resume
4. official transcripts (guidelines and information)

All graduate applications must be submitted to the ECU Graduate School, the University-wide office that coordinates all graduate applications. You are responsible for the submission and receipt of all application materials. When your application is complete, the application packet is then sent to the College of Business Graduate Programs office for evaluation.

Applicants are admitted to the MBA and MSA programs only upon the issuance of a formal letter of admission by the Graduate School.

The Graduate School will destroy incomplete applications one year after the beginning date of the term of intended enrollment.

Admission Pathways

You can be admitted through one of the following paths:

GPA Admission Path

• Undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher for MBA applicants
• Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher for MSA applicants

Experience Admission Path

If your GPA is below 3.2 for MBA applicants or 3.0 for MSA applicants, you may qualify with:

• At least 5 years of full-time professional work experience
• Advanced Degree (MA, MBA, MS, JD, MD, PhD, etc.)
• Licensed CPA for MSA Applicants

Alternate Admission Paths

If you don’t meet the GPA or experience requirements, you can still qualify for admission.

Take the GMAT (or GRE):

• You must earn at least 1000 points using the formula: (200 × GPA) + GMAT score
• The minimum GPA is 2.7.
• The minimum GMAT score considered is 550.
• GRE scores may be submitted instead and will be converted to a GMAT‑equivalent score using ETS’s conversion tool.

If your GMAT score is 500–540, we recommend speaking with an advisor to discuss your possible options.

Applicants with a cumulative GPA below 2.7 or a GMAT score below 550 may be admitted with additional academic requirements.

English Proficiency

The Graduate School accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Duolingo English Test or Pearson Test of English (PTE) and scores must be forwarded to the Graduate School by the testing service.

The English proficiency requirement is waived for international students if the undergraduate degree is from a US college or university.

Financial Support

Financial information along with certified evidence of financial resources to cover educational costs and living expenses must be submitted once an admission decision has been made. International students are responsible for meeting all financial obligations (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) incurred.

Financial Assistance

Students seeking financial assistance through graduate assistantships, scholarships, or financial aid are strongly urged to apply early, as awards are based on demand and are dependent on available funding. Students must be fully admitted to be considered for assistantships, remissions, and/or scholarships.

The College of Business offers graduate assistantship (GA) positions that assist professors in research or course administration or provide support for various COB offices. There are also other graduate assistant opportunities across the university; please contact respective departments for more information. All international students who receive a graduate assistantship should complete the Social Security Number request form. This can only be done once the student is physically present in country.

The COB does not offer tuition waivers or fellowships.
