Robert Nelson

Director of Accounting Inc.

Previous Positions: Controller, MetaMetrics, Senior Associate, Dixon Hughes Goodman

I started my professional career as an auditor in the DHG Raleigh office where my primary client base was in the software and technology space.  The experience I gained in a few short years helped me land my next job at MetaMetrics as their Controller.  MetaMetrics is a private equity backed education company and I joined 2 years before our investors planned to sell the company.  My job was to help streamline the accounting and finance operations and prepare the company to be sold.

After MetaMetrics sold, I stayed on for another year and then found my next role at Pendo.  Pendo is a pre-IPO software company that helps make other software products better.  While I wear a lot of hats in this role, my primary responsibility is to help build out the accounting function and implement processes and procedures that drive IPO readiness and will allow us to operate as a public company.

Without my Accounting degree from ECU, many of these opportunities would not have been available to me.  There are many career paths that one can take, but I believe the foundational knowledge that accounting gives you will set you up for a lifetime of exciting opportunities.
