Term Dates

ECU operates an academic calendar across 4 semesters.

• Fall: late August thru mid-December; course registration generally opens the last week in March
• Spring: early January thru early May; course registration generally opens the first week in November
• Summer 1: mid-May thru mid-June; course registration generally opens the last week in March
• Summer 2: mid-June thru late July; course registration generally opens the last week in March

Registration Information

The course registration schedule can be viewed on the Registrar’s Office website. Students are encouraged to register for classes as soon as possible for the best class selection because classes can reach capacity prior to the start of the semester.

Students register themselves for classes using the Registration and Planning card in PiratePort. The Registrar’s Office has prepared documents and video instructions on how to register.  A registration PIN is not required for graduate students.  Students  may make schedule changes (add or drop courses)  from the start of registration until the end of the drop/add period.  After that period, you can withdraw from classes through the Registration and Planning card in PiratePort. If you need to withdraw from all of your classes (or your only class), you must submit a Term Withdrawal Form. Students who are currently on academic probation are not eligible to register until grades for the current semester are posted and reviewed.
